Next Steps is a division of I Was Broke. Now I'm Not., LLC. IWBNIN was founded by Joseph Sangl in 2006 with the express purpose of "helping others accomplish far more than they ever thought possible with their personal finances".
Joe believes that when people are financially free, they are much more likely to go do EXACTLY what they have been put on earth to do.
Through Joe's regular travels to teach personal finances, he realized that there was a tremendous need for PRACTICAL next steps to be provided for those who are seeking financial freedom.
Some scenarios Joe encounters daily …
- People are fired up about creating a written spending plan, but without accountability to the plan they struggle to make the necessary spending changes.
- People are fired up about beginning their march toward debt freedom, but are paying 20%+ interest on their credit cards and furniture financing.
- People start saving money for their emergency fund and known upcoming expenses, but their local bank will only pay 0.20% interest.
- People need accountability to their plans, hopes, and dreams, but they do not know where to start.
The result? The team at IWBNIN created Next Steps with the goal of providing a "one stop shop" that enables people to take their next steps toward financial freedom.

About Joseph Sangl – Founder of IWBNIN, LLC
Joseph Sangl is the Pastor of Financial Planning at NewSpring Church in Anderson, SC, and is one of the original fifteen people who helped start NewSpring Church.
He obtained a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University in 1996 and an MBA from Clemson University in 2001.
From 1996 to 2006, he worked in corporate America for two Fortune 250 companies. During this time, Joe held engineering and management positions, but God was leading him to help others with their personal finances. In 2003 he began teaching personal finance courses and conducting one-on-one financial counseling.
In September 2006, Joe fired himself from corporate America and embarked on a crusade to help others with their personal finances.
Since that time, Joe has taught thousands of people through Financial Freedom Experiences, Financial Learning Experiences, one-on-one financial counseling sessions and personal finance messages. He is the author of the book, I Was Broke. Now I'm Not. Additionally, Joe maintains a daily personal finance blog and also writes a weekly newspaper column.
It is his passion and mission "to help others accomplish far more than they ever though possible with their personal finances so they can go do EXACTLY what they have been put on this earth to do".
